B&W Nautilus 802
¥ 750,000 (1 unit, released in 1998)
Commentary
A speaker system that combines all the best of the Nautilus801 into a slimmer curved cabinet.
Two 20 cm cone type woofers are installed in the lower range.
Paper / Kevlar composite cone is used for the diaphragm.
The mid-range features an edgeless 15 cm cone mid-range.
The diaphragm uses a Kevlar cone the diaphragm. The unique FST improves the response time of the cone and the completeness of sound transmission to maximize the effect of Kevlar. The frame is designed to minimize the impedance to airflow from the rear of the driver.
A 2.5 cm metal dome type tweeter is installed in the high range.
The enclosure is a curved cabinet structure with a thickness of 3.5 cm. It uses a bass-reflex system with a port at the bottom. The interior uses a matrix structure. The cabinet is reinforced from the inside by a three dimensional honeycomb structure to reduce coloring.
The head enclosure uses Marlan, a high-tech plastic manufactured by DuPont.
There are 3 variations of the finish of the exterior, black ash, red cherry and cherry.
A speaker terminal made by WBT is used for the speaker terminal.
