Commentary
BSR Professional Series record player.
Eight separate pre-programmed interlocking cams eliminate the noise typical of conventional auto-changers.
The drive motor is a semi-divided high-power synchronous motor developed to match the operation of the continuous cam. This motor suppresses uneven rotation caused by voltage fluctuations and load due to the number of records.
The spindle uses a rotary stub spindle to prevent friction with the record center hole by rotating the record and spindle at the same time. When using an automatic changer, it is replaced with an umbrella type spindle.
An aluminum die-cast turntable is used for the turntable.
The number of revolutions is rocker type, and the desired number of revolutions can be selected by pressing the knob.
The standard speeds of 33 1/3 and 45 revolutions can be finely adjusted within ± 3%. The number of revolutions can be checked with the strobe located in the center of the turntable.
Equipped with a needle drop adjustment knob, the needle tip can be lowered to an accurate position even for non-standard records.
An oil dump type tone arm lowering device is adopted, and both automatic and semi-automatic operate with oil dump.
The tone arm is made of lightweight aluminum and has a perfect balance between horizontal and vertical.
Equipped with balance weight and needle pressure adjustment mechanism, it can be adjusted according to the cartridge to be used.
Tapered bearing reduces friction resistance in both horizontal and vertical directions.
Double scale anti-skate control is used for inside force compensation.
In this mechanism, there is a scale for each type of elliptical needle and conical needle, so the inside force can be adjusted to the same scale as the needle pressure.
It has a unique automatic tone arm-locking mechanism that locks automatically when the tone arm returns to the armrest.
When the player is activated, the lock is released automatically.
Equipped with an overhang adjustment mechanism, it can be adjusted within 6 mm.
It -button operation is adopted, and operation such as full automatic, repeat and manual operation is button type.
There is an accessory pocket on the front that can hold a spindle for an autochanger, an overhung (locating) indicator and an EP adapter.
The 710X was sold in two variations, one with the body and the other with options.
Optional included cabinet and dust cover plus Shure's M91ED cartridge.
