Commentary

A top-loading CD player.

By adopting a top-loading system, the mechanism can be mounted at the center of gravity of the main body, enabling accurate tracking without being affected by disc vibration. The disc is held by a carefully machined proprietary large disc stabiliser and center magnet, providing a rigid and stable rotational.

For the mechanism part, Philips' CDM-12PRO is customized for the WIZARD. It is directly screwed to the top panel of 15 mm thick aluminum for integration with the chassis. Compared with conventional methods such as suspending with rubber or spring, the structure is more stable.

The D/A converter uses an 18-bit continuous calibration bit stream type D/A converter manufactured by Philips. The single-bit conversion makes the circuit relatively simple and, in principle, does not generate 0 cross distortion, making it possible to perform natural conversion.
In addition, a unique analog buffer circuit is used for the analog output to achieve the sound quality target.

Inter IC-Sound(I²S) The transfer bus reduces jitter by effectively isolating the audio data, word clock and bit clock.

The power supply consists mainly of a large toroidal transformer and a large-capacity filter.
In addition, the digital and analog sections are completely independent, and a total of seven independent power supplies are used to completely eliminate interference between the drive, digital, analog, display and microprocessor sections. In addition, to take full advantage of independent power supplies, only the digital section power supply can be turned off so that the analog section is always energized.

The analog outputs are unbalanced via the RCA connector and balanced via the XLR connector.
The digital outputs consist of a total Route 3 of RCAs, BNC coaxial connectors and XLR connectors.

Dedicated remote controller RC-5 is included.
There was also an optional aluminum remote controller WAND with a stick-shaped form that was sold separately. This WAND has all the WIZARD functions as well as WAZOO volume control and can be used as the master controller of the WAZOO/WIZARD system.
