WAZOO
Commentary

Integrated amplifier with simple circuit design.

The model name for WAZOO is taken from the 1972 album "The Grand Wazoo" by Frank Zappa, a favorite artist of designer Poe Christensen. Wazoo means a large, primitive, but effective megaphone.

The output circuit uses a single push-pull configuration using a pair of high-efficiency MOS-FETs.
The simple design with single push-pull operation solves the problems of element matching, which cannot be avoided in parallel configuration with many elements, and the loss of dynamism and purity caused by the slow response of the amplifier.
In addition, by reducing the number of active components from the input stage to the output stage and discharging NFB, dynamic and natural characteristics are realized.

The power supply section is configured using a large transformer, and all the left and right channels are independent from the secondary side and beyond.

The circuit board is a type with a 105 μ m copper layer.
In addition, audio-only parts such as WIMA polypropylene capacitor, ELMA selector switch, Lauderstein carbon film resistor, low noise / soft recovery diode, WBT connector are used to balance cost and performance.

The volume is motor-driveable and is designed for volume control only with an optional remote controller sold separately.

The chassis is made of all-aluminum to prevent the loss of sound quality due to magnetization that is inevitable with a steel chassis.

The front panel is designed to be isolated from the chassis and has a simple layout with only input selector and volume knobs, monitor and standby switches.
