601II
Commentary

A floor-type speaker system using technologies such as free space array and sub-port enclosure.

The 601 II uses a free space array system and has a unique unit layout.
The free space array method is based on the know-how obtained at 901 IV to make the indirect sound and direct sound energy balance the same as that of live performance. Five of the six units are mounted on the upper part of the enclosure. In particular, four tweeter units are installed in a 360 ° self-play space with no obstacles.
By using this method, the reproduced sound is widely spread outside the left and right speakers, and conventional speakers realize an internal stereo sound image. In addition, by adopting the critical mounting angle of the unit derived from simulation of the venue and speakers, it is possible to radiate sound energy equally in all directions inside the room.

The enclosure uses a unique sub-port system to limit the adverse effects of standing waves.
In this method, each of the two woofers is equipped with an independent sub-enclosure, which is connected to the main enclosure through a sub-port. This sub-port controls the Q characteristic near the frequency which is easily affected by the standing wave. This sub-port reduces the middle and low band energy radiated to the front surface of the cone paper and guides the back pressure of the woofer to the main enclosure.
In the main enclosure, the frequency is further adjusted, and the lower frequency is emitted from the main port located at the top.

In the low range, 2 pieces of 20 cm cone type woofer using magnetic circuit of 2 kg magnet weight are mounted.
In order to improve the high-frequency reproduction capability of this unit, the damper and edge braking value are controlled. In addition, by installing two woofer units, the actual area of cone paper is doubled by √ 2, ensuring the low-frequency reproduction capability comparable to that of a large-diameter woofer.

Four cone-type tweeters are installed in the high range.
This unit uses special pulp with large internal loss and high Young's modulus to suppress the rapid attenuation of high-frequency characteristics.

For the insulation material of the voice coil of each unit, special polymer material corresponding to the surface treatment of space rocket is adopted, and high input resistant design with excellent heat resistance and heat dissipation characteristics is adopted.

A dual-frequency crossover network is used in the network section, and approximately one octave from 1.5 kHz to 2.5 kHz is received by both the tweeter and woofer.
This prevents the point source effect, which causes fluctuations in the sound image by changing the sound unit depending on the band.

The Shincom II computer developed in-house is used for the production of the 601 II, and from the selection of parts to the product check, it is well managed.
