Commentary

A bookshelf type speaker system that employs a direct reflecting method.

A 16 cm cone type woofer is installed in the low range.

A 5.7 cm cone type tweeter is installed in the high range.
By filling magnetic fluid in the magnetic circuit of the tweeter unit, stable operation can be maintained at all times even with large input and long-time continuous playback. Moreover, by using magnetic fluid, appropriate damping and excellent cooling effect can be provided, and strain reduction and high durability are realized.

In the sound field of live music, only 10% of 10%, and nearly 90% is indirect sound. To reproduce this live performance faithfully, Bose's unique direct reflecting method is adopted.
In order to achieve an ideal ratio of direct and indirect sound, the 201 avm controls energy balance by arranging the tweeter diagonally front and outside and incorporating a unique spatial dispersion lens into the grill frame, which enables flat sound energy to be emitted throughout the listening room.

The enclosure uses a bass reflex system, and the bass reflex port uses a slit port unique to Bose.
The port has a long and narrow shape that takes into account air resistance. It efficiently uses the backside energy of the woofer to control the amount of air and speed required for low-frequency playback. The slit shape reduces port noise and realizes a crisp low sound.

The network section employs a dual-frequency network.
With two crossover points in this network, the middle range is shared by both the woofer and the tweeter, so that the voice band, which is the most important part of music playback, is enriched, and the bass and treble are connected for natural sound.

As an anti-magnetic measure, the 201 avm uses an outer yoke cover to eliminate magnetic flux leakage from the woofer and tweeter.
