125 WestBorough
Commentary

This small speaker system is compatible with super audio such as DVD and SACD while inheriting the innovation of 101 mm and the elegant sound of 121.

The unit is equipped with a newly developed 11.5 cm cone type full range unit crystal driver.
The unit size of 11.5 cm was determined from the results obtained in pursuit of the minimum size to cover the human audible band, and the same size was adopted for the famous 101 and 901 wb.
This unit uses a large 85 φ 15 mm thick magnet for the magnetic circuit, and Kapton bobbin, a super-heat-resistant material, and aluminum ribbon wire, which is lightweight and has high thermal conductivity, for the voice coil. This new material and Kapton bobbin, together with the patented technology of Bose, which turns square aluminum edge-width into a helical coil with no gap by precise computer control, have expanded the excursion by approximately 40% compared to the conventional one, and realizes linear playback to the input. In addition, by using a copper ring for the magnetic circuit to reduce magnetostriction in the high-frequency range, the high-frequency response is also improved.
In addition, a special treatment is applied to the cone paper to maintain its rigidity while ensuring an appropriate internal loss.
Aluminum die-cast is used for the frame of this unit to eliminate resonance.

The enclosure uses an acoustic waveguide, a technology patented by Bose.
Most conventional small speakers have adopted the bass reflex method in order to extend the limit of bass reproduction. However, if the bass reflex operation is performed with a compact driver, the movement of the cone paper in the low range becomes unstable, and the response to large input is reduced.
Acoustic Wave Guide is an application and evolution of the principle of resonance resonance. By resonating air in the resonance tube built into the enclosure, it succeeded in creating a large sound energy even with small movements of the driver. This realizes wide range and strong low-frequency reproduction.
On the 125 WestBorough, wave guides are embedded in the form of a corridor to form a highly rigid honeycomb structure skeleton, and resonance generated at specific frequencies by the aluminum / resin composite enclosure is eliminated.

The side panel uses MDF board made of 100% conifer with a bird's eye Maple style UV finish.

It has a passive control circuit with three functions.
This circuit protects the driver from excessive input, compensates for the frequency characteristics, and optimizes the system impedance. When a signal exceeding the allowable input is received, the speaker protection circuit automatically activates to prevent this, and automatically returns when the volume is appropriate.
