PE-5500
Commentary

This phono equalizer amplifier was developed with further consideration while inheriting the concept of the PE 6000 Signature.

The basic design follows the circuit connection method inherited from the PE 6000 Signature and uses many similar parts.
In place of the Vichea K & S series, DALE's CMF metal film resistor is used for the circuit resistor, which accounts for the largest part of the cost.

The circuit configuration uses an NF type equalizer amplifier with two stages of resistance load differential amplifier.
The SEPP output balance circuit incorporated in both sides of the second stage output introduced in the PE 6000 Signature has been changed to the SEPP circuit of one side sy passing force in the PE 5500.

A stable DC power supply is supplied to the circuit board of the equalizer circuit from the regulator circuit individually for the left and right sides.
Taking advantage of the through-hole circuit board, we have adopted a single-pole concentrated palace system and earth pocket warmers, which are highly evaluated in terms of sound quality.

The equalizer gain is set to MM42dB.
There are two MM input terminals, which can be switched by the rear panel selector.

Attaching the I/O connector directly to the chassis can result in loss of signal energy and degraded sound quality. This is due to the influence of the power transformer and power supply circuit. Irregular stray current always flows through the chassis and affects the input and output of signals.
The PE 5500 uses an insulating terminal board in the connector section to protect the input / output circuit of the signal from harmful stray current flowing through the chassis.

The power transformer and rectifier circuit of the power supply section are enclosed in a shield box of 2.3 mm thickness and floating mounted on the main chassis.

This protects the equalizer circuit board from the electromagnetic induction of the transformer and broadband spike noise of the rectifier.

The power cable tour uses a 3-pole AC inlet system in accordance with IEC standards, and various power cables can be replaced.
