Commentary
MC stereo cartridge that uses super Hi - μ core material.
Uses PC-S, a super Hi - μ core material.
PC (78% Permalloy) with excellent magnetic characteristics has a problem of magnetic saturation in a strong magnetic field, so it was impossible to use it in a magnetic circuit such as MC cartridge. Therefore, we focused on improving the performance of Hi - μ ・ PC material, which has been proven for many years, and developed super Hi - μ core material PC-S by carefully repeating basic experiments and concentrating experience.
Compared with conventional PCs, this PC-S exhibits superior characteristics in both initial permeability, which indicates magnetization response, and coercive force, which indicates residual magnetization. In addition to less hysteresis loss and magnetic distortion, effective permeability in the high-frequency range, which is important for reproducing the subtle nuance of sound, is significantly improved.
Neodymium magnet with excellent crystal magnetic anisotropy is used for permanent magnet of magnetic circuit.
The neodymium magnet has a very large BHmax and can obtain a strong magnetic flux density even in a small size. In addition, soft iron yoke materials with high permeability and excellent saturation magnetic characteristics are ideally placed in front and back of the magnet. Since the leakage magnetic flux to the outside of the cartridge is small and strong DC magnetic field can be obtained, the output level of 0.3 mV or more at 3 Ω is secured.
Aluminum alloy pipe material is used for the cantilever.
The double structure of the main and outer parts of this pipe reduces the effective mass while increasing the strength.
3x30 μ m semi-line contact stylus shape is adopted for the needle tip, and excellent tracing capability is obtained as well as weight reduction of the moving mass.
The cartridge body and external housing are made of lightweight and strong aluminum alloy.
It is designed with consideration for the robustness of the base part and dustproof measures of the housing.
