Tape deck with GX head and center capstan drive mechanism.

M-11D is a tape deck and M-11 is a stereo tape recorder with speakers and amplifiers.

Glass & Crystal Ferrite (GX) heads are used for recording and reproducing heads.
Ferrite is melted at a high temperature of 1,800 ° C and hardened into a single crystal with high hardness for use as a core material. In addition, by covering the including the core is covered with glass to prevent dust and dirt from adhering and to provide excellent wear resistance.
In addition, because of the advantages of the core material and glass, only a small amount of bias current needs to be applied, the gap space of the head can be made shallow, and the bias on the focus can be obtained ideally, so that there is no attenuation in the high-frequency range and high-density recording is possible. Equipped with Oatley verse mechanism by sensing tape and manual reverse mechanism.

A quick reverse regeneration mechanism is adopted to shorten the rise time of the reverse.

The mechanism uses a center capstan system to realize a symmetrical structure. In combination with a new one way clutch mechanism, an idler is added, and a belt system is used to suppress wow flutter.

A hysteresis synchronous 2-speed motor is used as the drive motor.
This motor uses an oil-free type oil circulation system unique to Akai. In this system, two oil circulation mechanisms are installed, and a newly developed cellulose fiber oil retaining material is built into them. Oil is circulated by the rotation of the motor and temperature rise.
This makes it possible to rotate the shaft smoothly. Moreover, since there is no electrical or mechanical circulation, there is no trouble such as circulation stop.

Equipped with an S. R. T. switch for low-noise tape.
When this switch is switched to S. R. T., the recording compensation characteristic changes, making it possible to draw out the performance of low-noise tapes.

A one way clutch system is used to prevent tape stretching and slack, which tend to occur during rapid feeding and rewinding. The tape is protected with minimum back tension.

Equipped with an auto-stop / shut-off mechanism, the drive mechanism can be automatically stopped or turned off when the tape reaches the end.

Equipped with a temporary stop switch, tape running can be stopped temporarily during recording and playback.

Equipped with a 4-digit tape counter with reset button.

Uses a large lever for speedy switching.

Equipped with a VU meter.

Uses a one touch lock type reel pressing mechanism to save the trouble of removing the cap.
This mechanism is a one touch system that pulls the reel presser on the end of the reel shaft toward you and turns it to the right or left.

Cycle replacement is possible with one screwdriver. In addition, power supply voltage can be switched in 6 stages between 100 VAC ~ 240 VAC.
