A 3-motor auto-reverse recording and re-tape deck with GX head.

GX head is used for the head.
The core of the GX head is made of low-noise single-crystal ferrite with low hissing. Moreover, it has excellent durability, so that the entire head can be made into an acute shape without worrying about wear, and at the same time, the gap depth can be made shallow. This realizes the best head touch and sharp focus magnetic field, eliminates drop-out and improves the output sensitivity of the head.
The core is wrapped by super hard glass and does not accept iron oxides such as magnetic tape and dust.
Since the GX head does not cause particle falling or surface peeling on the contact surface, initial characteristics can be maintained for a long time.

The newly developed recording / erasing combination head and reproducing head are fixed to a robust head block and symmetrically arranged in the forward and reverse directions with the capstan in the center. This realizes equal tape path in both directions. Furthermore, by performing functions for six heads with four heads, the tape path in both directions is shortened and wow / flutter is improved.

It adopts AKAI's unique center capstan system and realizes uniform characteristics in both forward and reverse directions.
Unlike the conventional side capstan system, the capstan of the GX 260 d is located on the left and right center lines of the head block and the tape travel system. The pinch roller also moves on the same center line to crimp the tape to the capstan. Therefore, the capstan operates in a precise symmetrical mechanism in any mode.

A 3-motor system is adopted for the mechanism part, and an oil-circulating oil-free hysteresis synchronous motor for capstan drive and an eddy current outer rotor motor for two reel drives are adopted.
The oil circulation type oil-free motor is equipped with an oil circulation mechanism using a newly invented cellulose fiber oil retaining material inside the hysteresis synchronous motor. Oil is automatically circulated using the rotational force and temperature rise of the motor shaft. Once the oil circulation begins, the oil retaining material also acts as a filter to filter and clean the oil. Therefore, the inside of the motor is always lubricated with clean oil, and smooth constant speed rotation can be maintained for a long period of time.

The line and microphone level controls are independent for precise level adjustment.

Equipped with a large VU meter.

Equipped with a tape selector, frequency compensation characteristics can be changed.
Set the tape selector to S. R. T when using an AKAI super-range tape or general low-noise tape.

It is equipped with a monitor switch. By switching the source and tape alternately, you can compare the sound before recording with the sound after recording.

The line and microphone input can be mixed.
