Commentary
A 2-way coaxial speaker unit with a cone type tweeter added to the 20 cm cone type woofer PW-20A (PW-8).
When I changed from inches to centimeters, the model number was also changed from PAX-8A to PAX-20A.
Pioneer's proprietary APC Parabolic Cone is used for the low-range cone. The cone paper produced by this APC method has low mass, large Young's modulus and excellent internal loss. The characteristics of the mid-range are flattened by braking due to the internal loss of the cone paper and by special bis-colloidal treatment of the edge. The cone shape is parabolic.
The high-range section is a 2-inch cone-type tweeter with a built-in network that cuts the low-range section, and the high-range cone uses a corrugated curved cone.
A special metalized network uses a special metalized capacitor, which is inserted in series with the voice coil of the tweeter to cut off the low frequencies entering the tweeter.
