Commentary

The Pure Malt series speaker system was developed as a commemorative model for the Millennium Year in 2000.

The Pure Malt series was created through a collaboration between Pioneer, Suntory and Oak Village.
The enclosure of this series is made of cask wood, a white oak over 100 years old that has been used for approximately 50 years to mature whisky. As a sign of cask wood, black nail marks and spots can be seen here and there. The cask material is even more rigid than Apiton plywood, reducing unnecessary resonance.

The enclosure is assembled manually by Oak Village craftsmen.
It is made using the Japanese traditional construction method of Tsui-Tsui-Kumi-Tain-Kumi-Tain-Kumi-Tain-Kumi-Tain-Kumi-Tain-Kumi-Tain-Kumi-Ta
In addition, the bass reflex port is made by sticking 5 rolls of solid board made of barrel material, and it is shaved according to the sound path.
In addition, the back chambers of the mid-range and tweeter are also assembled with barrel materials.

Two 16 cm cone type woofers are installed in the lower range.
The diaphragm is made of Kevlar cone. This diaphragm is made of Kevlar fiber, with consideration given to the thickness, direction of fiber, cutting, and satin weave. In addition, by using aramid fiber for the mat material, the conflicting elements of rigidity and internal loss required as a speaker unit are balanced at a high level.

A 13 cm coaxial type unit is installed in the middle and high area.
This unit uses a Kevlar cone for the mid-range as well as a woofer, and HSDOM (Harmonized Synthetic Diaphram Optimum Method) for the high-range.
HSDOM uses a computer-based finite element method to analyze the material, shape, edge, etc. of the diaphragm, and designs it so that each function and capability can be maximized. By combining piston motion and split vibration in a well-balanced manner, ultra-high-frequency reproduction is possible.

Slant baffle is used for the enclosure.
The 10-degree inclined baffle is designed for a listening position when sitting on a sofa, etc. It matches the phase between the speaker units and reproduces a wide sound.

A portion of the proceeds was donated to the Green Fund of the National Land Afforestation Promotion Organization.
