Commentary

The first pure malt speaker system was created using barrel materials that have matured Suntory whisky.

The cabinet of the Pure Malt Speaker is made of white oak (cask) over 100 years old, matured Suntory whiskey for about 50 years. This high quality cask material is shaved at Oak Village in Kiyomicho, Gifu, and each cask is hand-made into a form.

Since straight grain plates are used for all whiskey casks, some of them have Tora-fu pattern which is a feature of straight grain plates.
In addition, because the laminated wood (solid board) of the side plate of the barrel is used, the color tone is slightly different even in the same side plate. In addition, black dots of nail marks used in the barrel and stains of whiskey can be seen at random.

A 14 cm cone type woofer is used for the low range and a 2.5 cm soft dome type tweeter is used for the high range.
The speaker terminal uses a gold plated banana plug terminal.

The enclosure uses built using the traditional Japanese sliding connection method, and its strength and durability are enhanced by craftsmen who cut and fit the connection surface of solid plates into concave and convex shapes. In addition, the material of the bass reflex duct is made of the same solid oak plate as the cabinet, and it is made with attention to the texture while suppressing unnecessary resonance.
Similar to Oak Village, the exterior is finished with natural oil and resin-based oil from Linseed, palm, paulownia, Matsune, etc., rubbed in and wiped off, and then finished with natural wax and beeswax made from bee hives.

A logo proving the cooperative work of Suntory, Oak Village and Pioneer is placed at the lower left of the baffle plate, and a serial number showing the number of the limited production 1,000 sets is branding iron on the rear panel.

It seems that he enjoyed the subtle fragrance of whiskey when he opened the new one.
