Commentary

Based on the results and data of the model2402, this studio monitor speaker system was developed by putting in the latest TAD systemization technology cultivated in the development of the model2251.

TAD TL-1601c which is 40 cm cone type woofer is mounted in the low range.
The TL-1601c uses a special casting process to integrally mold the yoke, plate, and frame, which were previously separate parts. In addition, the center pole is screwed to the yoke to increase the rigidity of the unit. The magnetic circuit uses an Alnico magnet to suppress second harmonic distortion and achieve a strong magnetic flux density.
In addition, by applying a special aging process to the diaphragm, a tough and durable cone has been realized.

The high-frequency band is equipped with a unit that combines a driver TAD TD 4003 and a horn TAD TH 4003.

The TD 4003 is a newly designed compression driver equipped with an aluminum annular slit on a phasing plug to prevent phase disturbance of sound waves.
The vibration system uses a lightweight and highly rigid 10 cm beryllium diaphragm, and the magnetic circuit uses a neodymium magnet with a high magnetic flux density of 20000 of Gauss. This realizes wide-band reproduction and excellent linearity. In addition, the throat diameter is set at 39 mm in consideration of diffusion in the high-frequency range, thereby reducing the influence of AC magnetic flux and sound pressure inside the direct feeding terminal.

The TH-4003 uses the APAXIAL (Asymmetrical Pattern, Axis & Level) method and wave-front control technology to create an asymmetrical horn shape. The directional angle is set at 80 degrees horizontally and 30 degrees vertically to obtain smooth output sound pressure characteristics. In addition, directional control in the vertical direction is actively performed. This reduces reflection in the low frequency range, eliminates fins, and makes it possible to make the sound source position near the top and bottom of the woofer.
In addition, AFAST (Acoustic Filter Assisted System Tuning) is adopted in the upper part of the horn, and the resonance peculiar to the horn is absorbed by the acoustic tube, and the backward and forward movement of the sound image due to the pitch (sound height) is eliminated.

The network part of the model2404 was sold separately, and a dedicated network unit DN 2404 for bi-wiring was sold.
The DN-2404 realizes smooth phase characteristics as a system by adjusting the phase characteristics of the unit with high precision, and adopts CGR (Capacitive Gap Reduction) system to reduce unnecessary current due to parasitic capacitance.
The DN 2404 uses an external system so that it is not affected by magnetic flux and sound pressure inside the enclosure.
