Commentary
This is a stereo tape deck with a Oatley berth function.
It uses an all-belt drive mechanism with one motor, and does not use any idler, which is a major cause of rotating machine noise or wow flutter.
In addition, a hysteresis synchronous type motor with stable rotation is adopted to improve uneven rotation.
In addition, the head is arranged symmetrically with the capstan at the center, and a balanced center capstan symmetrical mechanism is adopted, making it possible to run tapes stably without deviation in the forward and reverse directions.
Oatley Verse is available for both recording and playback, and switching to reverse is as fast as 0.5 seconds.
Both forward and reverse directions are one touch operation, and if you attach a sensing tape to the end of the tape, it will be automatically reversed.
The pinch roller rising method patented by Pioneer makes it easy to tape.
The pinch roller has a self-aligning mechanism so that there is no uneven crimping on the tape and smooth tape feeding is possible.
It is equipped with a tape selector that can change the characteristics of the deck according to the standard tape and L. H. (low noise high output) tape respectively.
Uses a 1.5 μ narrow-gap head with less bumpiness in the low frequency range (50 Hz to 250 Hz) that is likely to occur due to the shape of the head.
Equipped with a pause lever that can be paused for both recording and playback.
Since the Head cover has an opening and closing type, it is easy to perform maintenance such as cleaning of the head.
Equipped with line output level control that can also adjust the headphone level.
Comes with an acrylic dust cover.
The metal reel (PR-80) in the picture was sold separately.
