Commentary

This is a stereo tape deck with a Oatley berth function.

No idler is used at all, and both the capstan and reel stand are belt drives of the all-belt drive system. In addition, since it is a 1-motor system, the generation of machine sound is cut off by an extremely simple mechanism.
In addition, uneven rotation and S/N have been improved by adopting a hysteresis synchronous motor.
In addition, the symmetrical structure of the center capstan drive ensures stable tape travel because it operates under exactly the same conditions in both directions.

Oatley Verse works during playback.
In addition to manual reversal by push button, automatic reversal is possible by attaching sensing tape to the tape end.
In addition, auto-repeat, which repeats continuous long-time playback, is also possible by attaching it to both ends of the tape.
A high-torque motor and an auto clutch are used for reversing, and the time required for reversing is only 0.5 seconds.
Recording is for forward direction only.

An easy-loading system is adopted, and the pinch roller sinks into the main body at the time of stop, and it is structured to rise at play.
Since there is no obstacle in front of the head, it can be easily taped.

In order to support not only standard tapes but also L. H. tapes, it is equipped with a tape selector that can change the characteristics of the deck according to the tape.

The built-in amplifier is a solid-state amplifier using carefully selected silicon transistors.

The Head cover is a one touch opening and closing type with a convenient structure for head cleaning and degaussing.

Equipped with a pause lever that can be paused for either recording or playback.

The metal reel (PR-80) in the picture was sold separately.
