Commentary

A flagship AV amplifier that supports THX Surround EX.

Compatible with THX Ultra, it can be used anywhere from space-saving to full-fledged home theater (3000 ft).

It is equipped with the THX Surround EX decoder which brings the sound effects of Surround EX, an audio format for theaters, to the living room.
This system is a 7.1 ch surround system with two surround back channels added to the conventional 5.1 ch surround system, further improving sound continuity and enveloping impact.
With the VSA-D10EX, you can connect surround back speakers by adding an external power amplifier. Surround SURROUND EX-compatible sources allow you to enjoy THX Surround EX 7.1 ch sound, while Dolby Digital 5.1 ch sources can be played back as 7.1 ch by THX Surround EX decoding.
It is also compatible with DTS-ES.

The decoder uses Cirrus Logic's CS 493292 - CLEP.
This DSP chip is compatible with MPEG-2 AAC of BS digital broadcasting, so you can enjoy 5.1 ch BS digital broadcast movies as they are, or enjoy multi-channel broadcast contents as they are.

Equipped with advanced theater mode.
This function is a sound field mode unique to Pioneer. You can choose the sound field that best suits the style of the living room and the sound taste of the user while retaining the essence of surround formats such as DTS and Dolby Digital.
In 7-D theater mode, 2-channel sources such as Dolby surround sound can be played in 7.1 channel multi-speaker surround sound.

Equipped with Midnight listening mode, it can improve the sense of presence that tends to be lacking when enjoying movies or music at low volume such as at night.
This mode adjusts the frequency response, balance, dynamic range, and other characteristics of the human auditory sense according to volume changes.

Equipped with DSP mode, 7 surround modes can be selected.
You can also adjust the effect levels in nine levels for Hall1, Hall2, Jazz, Dance, Theater1, and THeater2.

Direct Energy MOS-FET is used for each power amplifier for 5 channels.
This element has features such as low power loss due to heat generation, high efficiency signal amplification and excellent power linearity, contributing to accurate speaker drive.
By selectively using this direct energy MOS-FET, the operating conditions of all channels are matched to minimize differences in sound quality and tone quality between channels.
The heat sink is made of aluminum and has a large wall thickness to suppress resonance, so as to provide sufficient heat protection and high sound quality. In addition, thorough noise control measures are taken, such as a copper shield cover with a diode and a power transformer.

The input / output terminals are equipped with D4 image terminal for progressive image, component image terminal and S2 image terminal.
In the audio system, in addition to the multi-channel (7.1 ch) direct input terminal for DVD audio and newly developed large gold-plated speaker terminal for banana plug, the digital input / output terminal is also equipped in abundance.

Direct construction is used for internal construction.
This system is based on the idea that the signal path should be as simple as possible. It separates different circuits (digital and analog, video and audio), and arranges parts optimally to minimize the signal transmission path, thereby completely eliminating signal interference between circuits.
In addition, the copper foil on the circuit board of the power supply unit is 70 microns, double the normal size, reducing the impedance of the circuit and achieving smoother signal flow.

The chassis structure uses a double layered chassis.
In this system, the chassis is double-jointed by welding to increase the rigidity of the chassis and reduce distortion. In addition, the chassis and rear panel are copper-plated to reduce impedance and contribute to stabilization of high-frequency potential.

Equipped with multi-channel digital noise reduction.
Compensates for noise in audio signals from cassette tapes, VTRs, FM/AM tuners, and other devices, making the sound less noisy and easier to listen to.

Equipped with an RF demodulator.

Each circuit is equipped with a separate and independent local regulator.

It uses parts such as high-voltage film capacitors for high sound quality, high-ripple electrolytic capacitors, low-noise bridge rectifier diodes, 70-micron copper foil printed circuit board for power supply, and low-resonance large aluminum extruded heat sinks.

Gold plated input / output pin jacks and banana plug-compatible screw-type gold plated speaker terminals are used.

The display section is equipped with a 4-stage FL dimmer display.

It comes with a 4.5 inch large liquid crystal touch panel remote controller with back light.
This remote control operates according to the GUI displayed on the LCD. It is equipped with a macro function that turns on the power of DVD, TV and VCR continuously just by turning on the system power, a flexible macro that allows up to five commands to be added freely, a system-off macro that turns off all systems with one button, and a lock function that prevents inadvertent operation of the train.
