Commentary

A CD player system consisting of three devices : a CD drive unit LHH1001, a D/A converter unit LHH1002, and a remote control unit LHH1003.

The LHH1001 CD drive unit uses the CDM-1, which is also used in the LHH2000 CD drive unit. The CDM-1 is made of aluminum die-cast for the entire mechanism including the mechanism chassis, and demonstrates the unique swing arm drive mechanism of Philips and the tracing capability of the 1-beam laser pickup.
High rigidity is achieved by mounting a copper-plated die-cast chassis and die-cast side panels. In addition, the entire body is made vibration-free and resonance-free with a 3-piece aluminum top cover and a large insulator with cement-filled die-cast legs and rubber spacers.

A large toroidal transformer is used for the power supply. In addition, the signal circuit and servo circuit are separated from each other on a separate board, and a copper plated shield cover is provided to eliminate mutual interference.
We also use carefully selected top-grade parts and a vibration-resistant glass epoxy board.

Two types of digital outputs are installed : optical and coaxial.

The D/A converter unit LHH1002 uses a 16-bit 4-times oversampling digital filter, and is equipped with the SAA7220P/B TDA1541A, an "A version" LSI that improves the matching between the digital filter and the D/A converter to improve accuracy. This LSI is an improvement on the conventional SAA7220 TDA1541, and greatly improves the reproducibility of analog waveforms at low levels of -70dB or less.
The LHH1002 is equipped with an A-S1LSI specially selected for linearity, and realizes high-precision D/A conversion along with excellent phase characteristics due to L/R-independent 2 dac.

The balanced output circuit consists of the same circuit as that used in the LHH2000 and parts with new technology. This output circuit is equipped with an output transformer to cut unnecessary bandwidth.

Equipped with four digital inputs and supporting two modes of 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz, it is possible to connect various devices.
In addition, it is equipped with a jitter absorption circuit to deal with jitter (fluctuation of signal with respect to time axis) which is a problem in optical transmission. By pooling signals including jitter generated by vibration of optical fiber cable in the IC, and taking out signals with no jitter at the correct cycle, low distortion is achieved.

Each of the digital circuit, D/A converter circuit, and analog circuit is equipped with a dedicated power supply section, and each power supply section is equipped with a toroidal transformer with excellent regulation.
In addition to installing a dedicated power supply, each circuit block is separated as a separate board at the same time, and mutual interference is eliminated by copper plating shield cover.
We are also pursuing higher sound quality by adopting a glass-epoxy board with double the thickness of the copper foil for the print pattern.

The chassis employs a copper-plated diecast chassis and diecast side panels to eliminate the effects of vibration.

The LHH1003 is a table-top remote control with all the keys necessary to operate all the functions of the LHH1000. You can control various functions at hand, including Philips' unique programming function FTS (Favourite Trace Selection).
Equipped with a large LCD.

It is equipped with a run-on function, and commands can be memorized from a remote control such as DAT or another CD player. The run-on function reads and records various command codes emitted by infrared light. It can memorize up to 10 remote control operations including LHH1000.
The maximum number of commands that can be stored is 10x36 commands, and the stored commands are displayed on the LCD of the LHH1003 by operating the function keys.
