Commentary

The Scepter E series 4-way floor type speaker system that uses the Septor series speaker unit.

The Scepter E series employs Onkyo's original diffusion horn technology that allows spherical waves to be obtained with a horn.
In order to reproduce a spherical wave at the horn aperture, it is necessary to make the sound from the periphery come out later than the sound from the center of the horn. In the diffusion horn, the whole horn is considered to be an assembly of innumerable small horns, and the sound path is designed to become a detour so that the sound path becomes longer at the periphery. The square horn is used in the middle range, and the round horn is used in the high range. Both are designed based on the same concept.
This improves the pointing characteristic, which is a weak point of the horn.

In the low range, it is equipped with W-300A which is a 30 cm cone type woofer.
In addition to reducing the weight of the vibration system by adopting newly developed lightweight cone and foamed neoprene rubber edge, 16 Hz fo, which is the same as pipe organ's fundamental, has been realized.

The mid-range is equipped with the HM 450 a horn type squaker.
In this unit, the material and shape of and shape of the horn, and by changing the sound wave inside the horn into a spherical wave, the directivity characteristic, which is a weak point of the horn type, is greatly improved.
An ultra-hard duralumin foil diaphragm is used for the diaphragm, and active air damping is carried out in the back cavity to improve transient characteristics and distortion characteristics which affect sound quality.
Although the cut-off frequency of the HM 450 a is low at 450 Hz, the horn length is shortened by the diffusion horn. Moreover, the high-frequency range can be reproduced up to 13 kHz by the adoption of the double equalizer.

A horn type tweeter TW-1500A is mounted in the high range.
This unit has a broad directivity in the 360 ゜ direction. The effect of sound quality degradation near the cutoff is eliminated by setting the cutoff frequency sufficiently lower than the band used. In addition, the horn has undergone a high-precision aluminum cutting process, which combined with the diffusion mechanism eliminates the so-called horn smell.
Ultra-hard duralumin foil diaphragm is used for the diaphragm.

The TW-40A horn type super tweeter is installed in the ultra-high frequency range and realizes playback up to the ultra-high frequency range of 40 kHz. 3300 A is a horn type super tweeter.

Level control is provided for the middle and high frequencies.

The enclosure is an 80L sealed type with a natural marble top plate.
