ONKYO Scepter-SW1

Commentary

This is a subwoofer system with built-in amplifier developed through many theoretical analyses, hearings, and verification based on human listening feeling with the proposition of drawing out the performance of high-end theater to the maximum.

ONKYO's unique Super J' DRIVE system has been adopted to improve playback at ultra-low frequencies.
In the J' DRIVE system, the diaphragm of the unit mounted inside the cabinet is in contact with the front chamber, which has an extremely small internal volume. When the diaphragm vibrates according to an audio signal, the air in the front chamber is compressed and expanded according to the movement of the diaphragm. This compression and expansion is transmitted to the air through a short duct.
In the J' DRIVE system, it is possible to play back low-frequency sound with good transient even if only one unit is used. However, the Scepter-SW1 uses a dual drive system in which two units face each other to cancel the reaction. This system is named the Super J' DRIVE system.

The unit uses two 25 cm cone type woofer that uses OMF diaphragm with less material specific resonance sound.
This unit was developed for the Scepter-SW1. It has a 6-layer structure with a diameter of 25 cm and an S-line edge with an edge three times thicker than usual to absorb propagation waves and minimize reflection.
The magnetic circuit uses an M. D. C. T. with a shape and structure that enhances the symmetry of magnetic flux and prevents the interference of AC and DC magnetic fields.

The enclosure uses MDF.

Equipped with preset functions (4 items of cut-off frequency, volume level, phase and mode) including power on / standby, volume level, Music/Movie mode switching, cut-off frequency selection, Normal/Reverse phase switching, mute, and custom-set three pattern storage preset functions (4 items of cut-off frequency, volume level, phase and mode).
It also comes with a wireless remote control that can operate all of these functions.
