Commentary
An AV amplifier developed by taking over the technology of high-end machines.
The Dolby Digital Decoder uses Motorola's 24-bit process DSP (56009) for Dolby Digital and high-speed 24-bit process DSP (56004) for sound field creation.
The dual Motorola DSP system provides excellent compatibility between two DSPs, ensures highly reliable data transmission, and enhances the quality of sound field creation in total.
It takes full advantage of Dolby Digital performance by using the core technology of HOME THX Cinema, cinema-re-equalizer and timber-matching circuit.
The Cinema Re-Equalizer circuit converts recorded Dolby surround digital sound for movie theaters that has undergone high-frequency correction in consideration of the effect of placing the front speakers behind the screen into sound without correction.
In addition, the timb-matching circuit compensates for differences in tone between the front and rear surround speakers, such as differences in position and sound emission direction, so that sound can be heard smoothly.
In addition, it is equipped with 3 modes of Action/Drama/Musical as Onkyo original DSP mode.
It is equipped with a new mechanism of smart scan controller that integrates many operations and settings.
The rotary dial, laid out at the right end of the display window, allows preset tuning of FM/AM, selection of reception frequency, selection of surround mode and various parameter settings.
The following parameter settings are available : system setup A (speaker setup), speaker distance, test signal / power level adjustment, surround setup, system setup B (balance control), surround mode and Dolby surround.
The power amplifier section incorporates Onkyo's Integra technology, such as low feedback and wide bandwidth in 5-channel discrete circuits. It is equipped with a high-current, low-impedance drive circuit that demonstrates high drive capability especially in multi-channel playback.
In addition, a low-noise cooling fan is installed to protect the power stage from overheating. In addition, a large heat-resistant transformer is installed in the power supply circuit to realize drive capability for multi-channel playback.
The main settings of the AV amplifier (system setup, surround set, input selector set, etc.) are displayed on the screen and can be operated with a remote control.
It uses an IPM (Intelligent Power Management) system and automatically turns the power of the amplifier on and off when the power of the TV is turned on and off.
In addition, when it is turned ON, the surround mode set up in advance is called up (when another device is selected as the source, the power ON/OFF is not linked).
The Y/C MIX function is installed so that the Y/C separated video signal input to the amplifier at the S jack can be sent as a Y/C mixed signal called composite from the output of the RCA pin jack.
For the Video4/VDP position only, an AC-3RF demodulator is built in and converts the Dolby digital signal recorded with the conversion signal for LD only into digital signal.
There are two types of speaker outputs, A and B. Route A supports surround sound with five channels, and Route B supports stereo sound with two channels.
