600II
Commentary

This cassette deck is an improved version of the 600 with a newly developed superhead.

The head is equipped with Nakamichi's own super head.
The material used for this head is crystalloid, which has extremely high μ at both low levels and high frequencies. The curves for the magnetization and demagnetization processes are very close. It also has excellent linearity and excellent frequency and strain characteristics.
In addition, the Superhead realizes narrow-gap recording. Generally, the ideal gap width for recording heads is 4 to 6 microns. In order to perform playback up to 20 kHz, a gap of 1.2 microns or less was required. Therefore, recording and playback at 20 kHz was considered impossible with conventional dual-use recording heads. We have been conducting research based on our long experience in head manufacturing, and have achieved recording and playback at 20 kHz with a 0.9 micron gap by three dimensional improvements in material processing technology.
Compared with other magnetic materials, the Superhead is superior to other magnetic materials by more than 5 dB in the third harmonic distortion, superior it is also superior to other magnetic materials in the even and odd order distortion beyond the third order. It is also superior in durability and can be used for more than 10,000 hours.

It is equipped with a phase correction circuit, and the phase rotation is suppressed within 30 degrees in all frequency bands.

By using a printed circuit board for the internal layout and thorough use of connectors, the number of cords used is reduced to more than ten. This reduces the possibility that the sound quality deteriorates due to the induction between cords when cords are used frequently.

You can record your absence by combining with a timer.

Equipped with a 400Hz/0dB test signal function.
This allows accurate reference signals to be recorded and played back to align the levels, thereby preventing the effects of differences in tape sensitivity.

Equipped with 10kHz-8dB test signal, bias adjustment knob can be used to obtain the optimum bias value according to the type of tape.

It has a headphone jack.
The output power at 0 dB is 45 mW, so that even low-efficiency headphones can be monitored with sufficient volume.

Uses an acrylic cover that can be easily put on and taken off.

Equipped with MPX filter, 19 khz pilot signal is cut during FM air check to prevent malfunction of Dolby NR system.

Equipped with a 47 dB full-range peak level meter.
Unlike the VU meter, which indicates the average recording level, it can directly read the point that is close to the saturation level.

Equipped with a Dolby NR system as a noise reduction system.

Tape start memory function can be installed.
Set the tape counter to position 000 and press the button. Press the rewind button to stop at position 000.

Equipped with an independent recording volume and a recording master volume.

There are 2 color variations of black and silver.

There was a wood cabinet as an optional item sold separately.
