Commentary
This large-size monitor speaker system was developed in 1977 (1977) to meet the performance improvement of program sources such as direct cutting records and PCM decks.
It has a 40 cm cone woofer in the low range and an 18 cm cone midrange in the middle range.
A honeycomb construction (HC) cone, which is light and has high bending strength, is used for the vibration plate of these units to reduce the strain of the vibration system. In addition, a special magnetic alloy is used for the magnetic circuit to reduce the current strain thereby realizing a lower strain than ever before.
A 40 cm cone type passive radiator is installed for the low frequency band to enhance the low sound reproduction capability.
A 5 cm cone type tweeter is installed in the high range, and a 2.3 cm dome type tweeter is installed in the ultra high range.
Newly developed heat-resistant adhesive is used for the voice coil of each unit.
The network section focuses on the phase between the speakers, which is important in a multi-way speaker system, and uses a phase shifting circuit to improve the sound connection between the units.
In addition, a protective circuit ensures high reliability.
The enclosure uses a V-shaped reinforcement to reduce vibration and suppress box rumbling.
Honeycomb cones are used for bass and middle sound units. Ultra-bass sound can be reproduced with large capacity and low distortion.
