Commentary

A bookshelf speaker system based on the DS-32B and incorporating new technologies such as the DUD structure.

A 25 cm cone type woofer is installed in the low range.
The cone paper uses a peripheral reinforcement cone that is molded with high density by giving thickness only to the peripheral part. It increases the strength without losing the lightness, and suppresses non-axisymmetric division vibration and strain at large amplitude.
The magnetic circuit uses a low-distortion magnetic circuit equipped with a special alloy FN ring to improve the non-linearity of magnetic characteristics that tends to occur in the air gap near the voice coil and to reduce distortion.
A die-cast frame with sufficient thickness is used for the frame to suppress natural vibration.

The mid-range is equipped with a 10 cm cone type squaker.
For the cone paper of the diaphragm, dry pre-cone is used to obtain appropriate hardness and internal loss. For the center cap, thin duralumin plate is molded and subjected to damping treatment to smooth out the characteristics of the high-frequency part. In addition, V-shaped fixed edge is used for the edge, and special damping material is applied.
Thick diecasting is used for the frame.

A 4 cm semi-dome type tweeter is installed in the high range.
In order to expand the dynamic range and reduce distortion, the DS-32BmkII uses the Diatone Unified Diaphragm (D. U. D.), which integrates the diaphragm and voice coil bobbin. This allows vibration to be transmitted directly to the diaphragm, thereby expanding the high-frequency limit. In addition, the heat radiation effect is enhanced and the transient response is improved.

The network section uses a low-strain network based on material considerations.
In the DS-32BmkII, metalized tapered film capacitors with excellent high-frequency characteristics and low distortion are used as capacitors, and oxygen-free copper wires with low DC resistance are used for coils and wiring.

It is equipped with a level control that can switch between 3 levels of middle and high range, and the characteristics can be adjusted according to the conditions of the listening room.

The front baffle units are arranged in a row to take into account the directivity of the high-frequency range, and the sound image localization is improved by making the left and right speakers symmetrical.

The enclosure has a bass reflex structure, and by adopting a folding port, radiation from the port to the mid-range is reduced.
In addition, in order to increase the rigidity of the enclosure, baffle plates are joined by a method called wrapping and retaining hozo joining, and box ringing is suppressed by distributing resonance modes by placing reinforcing members in appropriate positions.
