Commentary

This is a 4-way speaker system that uses the excellent technology of Diatone to achieve high rigidity.

The DS 3000 combines a high-speed, high-volume low-frequency sound with a rich sound field. The low-and medium-frequency sound is carried by an independent unit, and the woofer is used exclusively for the heavy low-frequency sound. This configuration also prevents the fundamental band from being intermodulated by low frequencies.

Woofer
A 32 cm cone type woofer is installed in the low range.

An aramid honeycomb diaphragm is used for the diaphragm.
Aramid fiber is an aromatic polyamide fiber with low density, excellent tensile strength and high modulus, and excellent damping vibration characteristics. Aramid honeycomb diaphragm is made by sandwiching aluminum honeycomb core with skin material specially mixed with flexible resin to create a sandwich structure. This is light weight, high rigidity, and moderately large internal loss, preventing the occurrence of natural resonance of diaphragm itself and increasing vibration damping.
In addition, the large thickness reduces distortion caused by non-axisymmetric split vibration and axisymmetric split vibration, and realizes rich low sound reproduction.

DMM (Direct Magnet Circuit Mount) system is adopted for the frame part.
In this system, the whole unit including the magnetic circuit is strongly supported from the rear by a strong aluminum die-cast frame, and the magnetic circuit and frame are virtually integrated. This suppresses the phenomenon that the magnetic circuit itself moves before anything when an input signal enters the voice coil, and transmits input energy to the diaphragm without loss.

Midbus
A 16 cm cone type mid-bus unit using an aramid honeycomb diaphragm is installed in the middle and low range.
The DMM system is used for the frame part like the woofer.

Mid-high
A 5 cm dome type mid-high unit is installed in the middle and high area.

DUD-boron diaphragm is used for the diaphragm.
The DIATONE Unified Diaphram (DUD) is an integrated structure of a diaphragm and a voice coil bobbin. By winding the voice coil directly around the diaphragm, the driving force generated in the voice coil is transmitted to the diaphragm without any loss. This reduces high-frequency attenuation and improves response to input signals. In addition, it eliminates loss in adhesion and allows high resonance frequencies to be set.
In addition, by obtaining a high heat radiation effect, it is possible to prevent an increase in conductor resistance caused by temperature rise, and to improve linearity and input resistance to input signals.

Boron, the diaphragm material, is second only to diamond in hardness. It has high specific elastic modulus at high resonance frequency, and excellent durability and weather resistance. In addition, the non-metallic nature of boron, which is similar to porcelain, has the effect of suppressing the sharp, pinky sound peculiar to metal diaphragms. The DUD structure simplifies the resonance mode and realizes a no-treatment diaphragm without the absorber as a peak canceller.
This diaphragm has been realized by the original deep drawing technology developed by Diatone, and has been successfully integrated with high precision of 1/100mm.

DM (direct mount) system is adopted for the frame part.
The DM method takes note of the fact that the magnetic circuit moves according to the input signal like the DUD method. Taking full advantage of the structure of the dome type unit itself, the magnetic circuit is mounted directly to the enclosure by the monocoque structure with the frame. By this, the input signal is transmitted to the diaphragm without loss, and the high-speed response realized by the DUD structure is further enhanced.

Tweeter
The high frequency band is equipped with a 2.3 cm dome type tweeter using DUD boron diaphragm similar to the middle and high frequency band.
This unit also uses the DM system in the frame part to improve the start-up characteristics.

Network
High-purity oxygen-free copper wires are used for all internal connections and terminals of network circuits. In addition, oxygen-free copper is used for crimping sleeve to eliminate interface distortion between dissimilar metals, thereby improving sound quality from the signal system material itself.

The input terminal uses the highest grade gold-plated terminal that can be used for very thick cables.

Enclosure
The enclosure is made of Siberian pine plywood to provide a beautiful and natural sound while maintaining high rigidity. Siberian pine grown in cold regions has dense fibers and maintains high rigidity. In addition, it also has the beauty of sound attenuation unique to coniferous trees.
In addition, we have reviewed the design of the mid-bus unit, which covers most of the fundamental band, and adopted a large back chamber focusing on the standing wave mode. In addition, we have adopted a round baffle in consideration of the characteristic disturbance caused by the diffraction effect.

In consideration of the acoustic characteristics inside the enclosure, we use felt, a natural material with natural and gentle sound absorption, as the sound absorbing material.

Other
There was a speaker stand DK-5 designed exclusively for DS 3000 and DS 2000.
