Commentary

This is a stereo cassette deck with high sound quality using MAAC, Compu-Bias, and dbx technology.

It is equipped with MAAC (Marantz Auto Azimuth Control) which is a unique azimuth automatic adjustment function.
The MAAC consists of a specially developed 4-slit head and IC, an actuator drive with piezo (piezoelectric ceramic element), and a MAAC phase indicator that displays the amount of azimuth error in real time, enabling accurate error detection and instantaneous response azimuth correction at the world's fastest speed of 3/100 seconds.
The 1-chip MAAC-specific IC was originally developed to process the four signals reproduced by the MAAC head, and achieves high reliability by performing phase comparison, pulse conversion, and data processing within the 1-chip IC.

It is equipped with a Compu-Bias system that allows the computer to automatically set the optimum bias, level and equalizer settings. The microcomputer controls the bias, level and equalizer (2 points of 7 kHz and 15 kHz) for each channel in 32 steps in approximately 10 seconds. The level and equalizer settings are adjusted three times in a push-up sequence.
The optimal recording mode allows you to record 4 data per channel with a total of 8 data for one type of tape. In addition to 24 data of 3 types of normal chrome metal that are stored at the time of shipment, each tape position is equipped with a user memory of 1 memory. Up to 6 memory 48 data can be stored by battery backup.

Equipped with 3 types of noise reduction, dbx, Dolby C and B, it can be used depending on the noise reduction of the recording source and the playback tape.
Dbx achieves a noise reduction effect of more than 30 dB in the entire audio frequency range, and a wide dynamic range without distortion even in high-level recording.
In addition to the conventional Dolby B, it is equipped with Dolby C, which reduces noise by 20 dB (1/10), which is equivalent to 3 times that of Dolby B, which is about 10 dB (1/3).

The mechanism uses a 204 pole, 102 pulse all-round integration type pulse servo DD motor. In addition, the BLACK high-precision mechanism, a double chassis structure boasting micron-order accuracy, realizes smooth tape travel.

Equipped with a Quick Music Sensor (QMS) that can automatically select 30 songs before and after.
The number of songs to be skipped up to the starting point is digitally displayed on the FL counter.

Equipped with a repeat function for one song / all songs.

Equipped with Auto Slack Take-up function which automatically takes up the slack of the tape.

When the tape is wound up in all travel modes, such as recording / playback / fast-forward / rewind, tape travel is automatically stopped so as not to impose unnecessary burden on the tape.

Equipped with a timer standby switch that automatically records and plays back using an audio timer.

It can be operated from a remote location with the wired remote controller sold separately.
