Marantz CDR-1

Commentary
This commercial recorder was announced as the first Marantz CD recorder.
In the recording section, analog audio signals are converted into digital signals by a 1-bit A/D converter, converted by CIRC and EFM encoders, and sent to the CD-R mechanism. Digital signals are also converted directly by encoders, enabling digital to digital recording.
The CD-R mechanism block has a function for recording in addition to reading the signal for reproduction, especially for changing the laser power for reading and recording, decoding the signal from the preform track of the CD-R disc, and electronics for speed control.
The D/A converter is equipped with SAA7350, a bit stream type D/A converter, and high reliability is enhanced by using high-quality parts such as die-cast chassis with high damping effect.
Built-in recording functions include automatic power calibration, which uses the PCM area of a CD-R disc to automatically set the laser power required for disc recording, automatic track increment, which automatically increments the track number of songs after a specified period of silence, manual track input, which is manually set without automatically determining the track delimiter, automatic space mute, which automatically creates approximately three seconds of silence between tracks, and synchronous recording, which enables synchronous recording through a remote connection with Marantz / Philips D BUS.
As playback functions, it is equipped with program playback, shuffle playback, repeat playback and auto-scan function.
When playing back a CD-R disc that has not been fixed up, it has a skip function that instructs it to skip unnecessary parts of the recorded signal and treats them as if they do not exist. It also has an unskip function that restores the skipped parts.
Wireless remote control is included.
