RV-55
Commentary

Digital sound field controller that realizes digital delay by introducing digital technology cultivated in CD development.

This is the first time that a digital delay has been used exclusively for audio. The technology accumulated through the development of CDs has been fully utilized. The A/D and D/A converters are equipped with devices equivalent to CD players.
In addition, a 5-band graphic equalizer and a sub-channel power amplifier are incorporated.

In digital delay, a delay signal and a reverberation signal are extracted and blended into a direct sound to restore a sense of presence. In the RV-55, an analog signal is digitized to extract a delay signal. The A/D and D/A converters use the same 16-bit A/D and D/A converters as CD player devices, providing a high signal-to-noise ratio and a wide dynamic range.
The digitized signal is stored in the ring buffer sequentially and is read out with a specified time difference. The memory capacity which determines the accuracy is 64 kbit.
A microcomputer is used to calculate the delay time, and any delay time (0 ~ 99 ms) can be freely set. A one chip microcomputer (8-bit) is also used to control signals such as RAM.

The reverb circuit incorporates a dedicated feedback circuit that returns the delayed signal to the input, adds it back to the input, and then returns it to the input of the reverse channel to reproduce the second and third order reflections and the continuously generated reverb components.
In addition, the reverb circuit can shift the delay time setting between channels within a range of ± 15 ms. It can also be used to correct acoustic characteristics when the sound condition of the listening room differs greatly from left to right.

The delay time can be preset, and can be set in increments of 1 ms with the up/down switch.
The set optimum value can be stored up to 3 points and can be recalled with one touch by the switch.

A matrix circuit is installed in the input section to control the difference signal between the left and right channels. It is possible to add a surround effect without damaging the sound image located at the center.

Equipped with video input / output terminal.

It has a built-in power amplifier for the sub speaker.

Equipped with a 5-band graphic equalizer.

It is equipped with a master volume that can control the volume of the main system and subsystem simultaneously.
A sub-dedicated volume is also installed to adjust the volume balance of the subsystem.

Tape dubbing circuit is mounted.
