Commentary

A stereo preamplifier produced based on data accumulated through the development of the PM-80 to PM-15.

A battery drive system using a dedicated power supply, bb-5, is adopted in order to prevent adverse effects due to high-frequency noise generated by microcomputers, which are often used in electrical products, and interference between the power supply and the amplifier itself.
This completely reduces noise from the AC power supply.

NEW HDAM, a newly developed module, is adopted.
This is an improved version of the HDAM, a two layer voltage amplification module developed for high-speed and high-S/N analog circuits. It realizes a four layer circuit board. The SC-5 uses eight new HDAM modules to improve circuit processing speed and stability, while achieving a high S/N.

The preamplifier / gain controller is an advanced version of the 4-channel active volume, which is highly effective in improving S/N during actual use. This mechanism allows setting in increments of 1 dB in the range of 0 dB to -14dB for both left and right channels. The newly developed high-quality, high-precision volume is used.

It is equipped with a phono equalizer that supports both MM and MC.

The chassis construction is designed with vibration control in mind.

The bb-5 uses lead-sealed batteries with superior reliability and stability.
This battery is constantly monitored by a dedicated microcomputer, which extends the life of the battery and provides a stable power supply.

The bb-5's front panel has a meter that allows you to see the battery voltage directly, so you can see how the battery is operating.

The DC-output of bb-5 is installed Route 3.
One system is set as an output dedicated to SC-5, and the other two systems are reserved for driving SM-5 with BTL.

In addition to copper plated chassis, 12 mm thick aluminum plate side panel and 5 mm thick aluminum plate top cover are used to realize construction with excellent vibration control.
