Commentary

A floor-type speaker system that uses an acoustic super woofer (ASW) system.

The ASW method is used to enhance the bass reproduction capability.
In this system, an ultra-low frequency unit is mounted in the enclosure and an acoustic bandpass filter is applied to reproduce only low frequencies below 100 Hz. In this case, even if the cone vibration causes nonlinear vibration and produces harmonic distortion, the acoustic bandpass filter cuts the harmonic distortion as a distortion component.
The HS-1400WA is equipped with 20 cm cone type woofer for ASW system.

A selector mounted on the front baffle plate allows switching between full range, ASW and ASW off.
When the selector ASW is set, the woofer and tweeter do not operate and only the ASW operates.

A 20 cm cone type woofer is mounted for low range.
In order to reduce distortion, non-woven fabric is used for the high compliance edge and special polymer compound is used for the damper, and cavity resonance due to plate thickness is prevented by installing a prominent frame to eliminate characteristic variations.

H-54HD horn type tweeter is mounted for high frequency band.
This unit is designed for mass production without losing the characteristics of the H-70HD. It uses a specially designed equalizer to improve high-frequency characteristics and an acoustic lens on the front to improve directivity.

The network design is 12dB/oct.

The enclosure uses a 15 mm thick rigid homogen Holtz with a walnut finish.
