This is a small speaker system of the RDM series that combines the monitor speaker technology that KEF has developed over many years with the latest UNI-Q tech Leptodora kindtii.

The RDM-2 is provided with an anti-magnetic shield adverse effects on cathode ray tubes, etc.

The unit is equipped with a 16 cm coaxial type unit which is a fourth generation UNI-Q driver.
This unit has a coaxial structure consisting of a 16 cm cone wide-range woofer and a 2.5 cm soft dome type tweeter made of pure silk material, and realizes sound image localization with excellent phase characteristics.
In the fourth generation UNI-Q driver, the voice coil is a long-through type in order to achieve power handling and low frequency tightness that can withstand monitor speaker specifications. The voice coil is set longer than the conventional type to give sufficient linearity even for large actions with large input and long stroke, and the voice coil is designed to dynamically reproduce a strong low frequency range.
Furthermore, by taking advantage of the large diameter tweeter and reducing the crossover to 2.1 kHz, effective tuning for low-frequency reproduction is achieved.
Consideration is also given to the effect of the vibration of the woofer on the radiation of the tweeter.

The network section is designed to solve the problems of phase variation at the crossover point and modulation to each band. In addition, an air-core coil is used to eliminate nonlinear distortion due to magnetic saturation at the time of Dainyu force, and a polypropylene condenser is used to prevent vibration.

The enclosure is designed as the RDM series while ensuring overall rigidity with wood panels of sufficient thickness on the left and right sides.
In addition, the main body uses a special material that has been studied as a material for speakers, and the inside uses a playing structure that is used to reinforce the top board of the instrument for tuning the acoustic characteristics and strength, eliminating unnecessary vibration and resonance.
In addition, a unique vibration absorbing material is used inside, and foam is used to prevent vibration of the bass reflex duct.

The input terminal is equipped with a gold-plated speaker terminal corresponding to a banana plug.
It also supports bi-wired connections.
