KEF Model 107

Commentary

This speaker system is the top-of-the-line model of the reference series announced at the 25th anniversary of KEF.

The Model107 comes with KEF's own active low-frequency equalizer, KUBE.
KUBE provides two types of equalization : a fixed type that automatically adjusts the mid - and high-frequency ranges to flatten out at maximum efficiency, and a variable type that allows the user to move the dial to obtain the optimum low-frequency range for room conditions and program sources.

The Coupuled Cavity (CC) system using two 25 cm cone type woofers is adopted for the low range.
In this system, the woofer unit is mounted inside the enclosure and the enclosure is divided. This eliminates the cancellation phenomenon that occurs when the unit and the duct are in opposite phases below the resonance frequency, which is a problem with the bass reflex system. This realizes both the high efficiency of the bass reflex system and the good transient characteristics of the sealed system.
In addition, the unique twin arrangement of the woofer cancels the distortion caused by each woofer, which cannot be avoided with a single woofer, eliminates unnecessary vibration, and controls around 90 hz where the musical power is concentrated.

Equipped with a 12.5 cm cone type squaker in the middle area.
This unit uses a newly developed voice coil and a new polypropylene cone.

The T33, a 2.5 cm dome type tweeter using new materials, is installed in the high range.

The mid-range / high-range portion uses the special head assembly structure used in the Model105. This mid-range enclosure uses a newly developed high-density damping material that controls resonance.
In addition, the head assembly is a rotating structure, which can be finely adjusted according to the situation of the room.

A unique CLM (Conjugate Load Matching) is adopted in the network part.
In CLM, irregular and complicated speaker impedance is changed to almost flat resistance value over all audible frequencies by the action of the conjugate network developed by KEF.
As a result, the sensitivity and maximum output level are almost twice as high as those of ordinary speakers under the same amplifier operating conditions. Moreover, the dynamic range is expanded, enabling ideal matching with the amplifier.

There are 2 variations, natural walnut and natural rosewood finish.
