Commentary
A horn with a punching metal type acoustic lens.
This horn was released in 1952 under the model name of 1217-1290, but it was changed to the model name of HL87 in 1975.
I often see the description that it was changed in 1976, but it was already described in HL87 in the 1975 catalog.
It consists of an acoustic lens made of five layers of perforated ring-shaped punching metal with different inner diameters, and an exponential horn made of aluminum die-cast.
In combination with driver LE175 and lE85 with throat diameter of 2.5 cm, it is possible to diffuse the middle and high frequency of 1.2 khz or more with 60 ° cone pattern without unevenness, expanding the listening position.
