Commentary

XPL series 3-way speaker system.

A 25 cm cone type woofer is installed in the low range.
The diaphragm uses an Aqua-Plus coated diaphragm. In addition, low distortion is achieved by adopting a unique SFG magnetic circuit for the magnetic circuit.

The mid-range features a 7.5 cm dome mid-range.
This unit is JBL's first large hard dome diaphragm with a pure titanium diaphragm. This diaphragm is an arrangement of the pure titanium diaphragm used in JBL's professional compression drivers. It is designed to upgrade the mid-range and achieve the same sound quality as the tweeter.

The high-range is equipped with a 2.5 cm dome type tweeter using the same pure titanium diaphragm as the mid-range.
By enclosing magnetic fluid inside, input resistance characteristics have been improved.

The network section employs a double-bypass capacitor system with excellent transient characteristics.
Monster cables with excellent transmission characteristics are used for internal wiring.

The high-frequency output level can be switched between two levels : flat or + 2 dB.

The tapered design of the enclosure reduces standing waves, and the trapezoidal design from the front to the rear minimizes internal standing waves.
In addition, JBL's unique reaction molded foam high-density material with excellent damping effects is laminated on the particle board at the front of the enclosure to dampen unwanted vibrations in the entire enclosure. In addition, the rounded corners prevent sound diffraction and completely eliminate adverse effects on playback sound.

The front baffle has a unique arrangement that sets back the tweeter and mid-range to the back relative to the other units to minimize the phase difference of each sound range.
In addition, JBL's first neo-plane foam is used around each unit to eliminate adverse effects due to primary reflection of sound on the baffle surfaces.

Bi-wiring and bi-amplifier connections allow the tweeter / mid-range and woofer to be driven by separate amplifiers.

It uses an adjustable foot that can adjust the elevation angle of the speaker.

There are four types of exterior finishes : walnut finish (WX), black finish (BX), white lacquer finish (WQ) and black lacquer finish (BQ). WQ and BQ are order-made products.

There was a special speaker stand sold separately.
