L222A
Commentary

This floor-type speaker system pursues accurate sound image localization.

The L222A uses inline placement for mounting the unit.
In this system, all units are mounted on the vertical axis, and the arrival time from the sound source to the baffle of each unit is made equal and the phase is matched, which enables more accurate sound localization.

The low-range unit is equipped with LE14H which is a 36 cm diameter cone type unit.
In this unit, the magnetic circuit of LE14A is changed to SFG (symmetric magnetic field type). By making the magnetic field between the top plate and pole piece symmetric, the second harmonic distortion is greatly reduced. In addition, a high-conductivity ring called Faraday loop is attached to the lower part of the pole piece to stabilize the mutual magnetic flux in the structure without affecting the coil impedance. This reduces the second harmonic distortion induced there.
In addition, by adopting a 10.2 cm diameter large-diameter copper ribbon edgewise wound voice coil, excellent transient response and high efficiency are realized.

A 38 cm cone type passive radiator PR15C is combined in the low range.
By using a passive radiator with an area approximately 30% larger than that of the woofer unit, low-frequency characteristics are extended and dynamic range is expanded.

The mid-range is equipped with a combination of LE5-9, a 13 cm cone type mid-range, and an acoustic lens.
By mounting the LE5-9 at a position deeper than other units, the position of the sound source is aligned, and by combining a special acoustic lens, diffusion and phase correction are performed.
It is also stored in an independent chamber to prevent interference with the woofer.

A horn type tweeter 076 is installed in the high range.
This unit is an elliptic horn tweeter with a unique ring diaphragm. It adopts a unique structure that connects a phasing plug that keeps phase and amplitude constant to an exponential horn, and improves directional and phase characteristics.

In the network section, an impedance correction circuit and a phase correction circuit are built in to flatten the characteristics near the crossover frequency in order to smooth the connection of units.

A rigid particle board is used for the enclosure.
