JBL 4206
¥ 96,000 (a set of two cars, around 1992)
Commentary
A speaker system developed as a console top monitor using JBL's professional technology.
A 16.5 cm cone type woofer is installed in the low range.
This unit realizes linear output characteristics with less power compression by long travel design.
A 2.5 cm dome-shaped tweeter is installed in the high range.
A pure titanium diaphragm is used for the diaphragm, and an acoustic lens is equipped on the front part which also serves as a protector of the diaphragm excellent high-frequency characteristics.
A multi-radial baffle has been adopted for the front baffle, and it is composed of a three dimensional curved surface with the sound axis of the tweeter horizontal and the sound axis of the woofer slightly upward. By this, the sound axis is concentrated in the average listening position of 1m ~ 1.5m, and high-dimensional sound image localization and sound field sense are realized.
We have also adopted various designs for accurate sound localization, such as in-line placement and flush mounting of units.
The enclosure uses a rear bass reflex system.
