Commentary
A record player that combines a direct drive player with a MM cartridge DL-8.
A direct drive system is adopted as the drive system.
Since there are no rotational transmission mechanisms such as belts and idlers, there is no wow flutter or rumble caused by them, and friction or deformation does not occur, so initial performances can be maintained for a long time.
DENON has developed a highly accurate magnetic recording and playback method for broadcasting stations to detect rotational speed, which is important for direct drive systems. In this method, a pulse signal is recorded on a magnetic substance coated inside the rim of the turntable and detected by a magnetic head close to the magnetic substance to control rotational speed.
As a result, excellent characteristics such as wow flutter and startup are maintained.
Uses a smooth AC torque motor for the drive motor.
AC motors are superior to DC motors in terms of rumble, wow and flutter because they rotate more smoothly in principle.
Speed adjustment knob is equipped with Normal position (Klix/Klukš top).
In this position, the internal stable reference voltage automatically adjusts to the specified rotation speed. This is the same system as the high-grade direct turntable DP-5000F.
An S-shaped needle pressure direct reading universal tone arm has been adopted for the tone arm, achieving high sensitivity and high tracking performance.
In addition, due to the adoption of an anti-skating mechanism, sufficient consideration is given to needle skipping and arm flow.
By attaching a special elastic body (viscoelastic body) with moderate viscosity between the tone arm and the cabinet, vibration from the cabinet is blocked.
Viscoelastic bodies are also attached to both ends of the cabinet to prevent vibration of the dust cover caused by sound pressure when the dust cover is closed.
By using an insulator, howling is suppressed.
The cartridge uses the DL-8 MM type cartridge newly designed for the DP 790.
DP-790 adopts a stopper finish cabinet and DP-790W adopts a walnut finish cabinet.
