Commentary
MM type cartridge developed based on DL-107.
The DL-109 has of DL -, DL-109D and DL-109R depending on the needle tip.
The structure of the DL-109 is basically composed of a magnetic circuit consisting of a disk-shaped magnet and an E-shaped core like the DL-107. It newly adopts a 4-coil 12-pole and a double push-pull system. By this, two regions with excellent linearity of the magnetic field generated in the core are connected in series. Linearity is expanded and distortion is reduced. In addition, since the magnetic field line of the magnet is utilized without waste, high sensitivity is achieved.
In addition, doubling the coil winding in one core increases the output impedance by four times, but this method requires only two times, which is advantageous for induction noise and high-frequency characteristics.
The cantilever is a special light alloy pipe that is thin with a thickness of 0.025 mm and has high rigidity. By making it into a tapered shape, various characteristics up to the ultra-high range are improved.
In addition, by adopting a single-point support system for the support part supporting the vibration system, uniform degrees of freedom can be obtained only in the vertical and horizontal directions, which are indispensable for stereo reproduction, and it is resistant to harmful vibrations.
Samarium-cobalt magnets are used to reduce the weight and increase the output of the entire vibration system.
A special elliptical needle is used at the needle tip to realize a sound with low distortion and excellent high-frequency characteristics.
