Oatley Verse A cassette deck capable of recording and playback.

Two flywheels and two capstans are attached to the machine and the drive belt is always driven in a fixed direction. This tape-drive system enables Oatley birth recording and playback with the same characteristics in both directions.
Simply set the Reverse Mode Selector to the desired mode.

GX head is used for the head.
Unlike permalloy and general ferrite, it is made of a single crystal which has excellent magnetic characteristics. The whole core is a single crystalline body, so it is excellent in abrasion resistance. Moreover, it is wrapped with super hard glass which has the same abrasion characteristics.
This makes it possible to create an ideal overall head shape, create a sharp magnetic field on the focus with a small amount of equalizer compensation, and record / playback with excellent dynamic range, S/N and distortion factor.

Equipped with a reverse mode selector.
Set the selector to Non for one-way one-way recording / playback, to Single for one-way Oatley repeat recording / playback, or to Cont for continuous playback.
If this selector is set to Cont when recording is performed, it is automatically switched to Single.

Equipped with an A.D. R (Automatic Distortion Reduction) system, the recording equalizer automatically changes according to the level of the input signal and records according to the dynamic range of the tape. This makes it possible to record in a high-frequency region with good linearity. There is no reduction in the recorded signal due to prior distortion or demagnetization, and f-characteristic degradation, distortion and beat at a high level are suppressed.

Equipped with a Dolby system.
The principle of the Dolby System is that when recording to tape, when the input signal is only in a range below a certain level or when the overall volume is low and noise is conspicuous, the volume is automatically increased to reduce the overall volume difference, and when playing back, the sound is automatically attenuated by the increased amount to return to the original balance. By this system, the original sound is extracted and noise is reduced during playback.
You can enjoy high-quality playback sound by turning the Dolby selector switch ON.

It is equipped with an O. L. S (Over-Level Suppressor) circuit. By switching the switch, it suppresses the distortion factor without distorting the sound even when the level is exceeded or when an instantaneous excessive input is input.

It is equipped with a tape selector switch. When using a chrome tape, turn it down to the Chrome side. When using other low-noise tapes, turn it down to the Low Noise side.
As a result, the frequency compensation amount can be changed and the performance of the tape can be brought out.

It is equipped with functions such as a color display lamp that indicates each operation accurately, a 3-digit index counter with a memory button that is convenient for starting the program, a large UV meter, a temporary stop button and an automatic stop.

A hysteresis synchronous motor is used for the motor, and a low-noise, low-distortion silicon transistor amplifier is used for the amplifier section.
