The Auto-Reverse Deck was created by applying the development know-how of the Reverse Deck and advanced technology.

The Quick Reverse System uses an infrared tape sensor developed by Akai.
In this system, when the magnetic tape ends and the reader tape is about to pass the position of the infrared tape sensor, the sensor detects this and the reverse mechanism is activated immediately.
As a result, the silent period during reverse operation has been reduced to 0.7 seconds, making it possible to record the absence of long-duration programs.

The head is equipped with a Super GX head that achieves the same performance as the 3-head system by using a twin field structure with a recording gap (4 μ m) and a reproducing gap (1 μ m) in one head housing.
Compared with metal heads such as Permalloy and Sendust, this head also has excellent secondary characteristics such as abrasion resistance, less noise, and less dust adhesion.

The mechanism uses a mechanism unique to AKAI called the bi-counter capstan drive system.
By providing dedicated capstan shafts and pinch rollers for both the forward and reverse directions, the reciprocating characteristics are made uniform are made uniform, and it is also possible to improve the start-up when the tape is reversed.
In addition, it is equipped with a linear motion mechanism that shifts the recording / reproducing head for both reciprocating and forward / backward by a unique precision drive mechanism.

A two motor mechanism has been adopted in which an electronically controlled DC motor is mounted for driving the capstan and a special DC motor with strong torque is mounted for driving the reel.

Equipped with a 3-stage reverse selector for enjoying various recording and playback functions.

Utilizing the mechanism of the 2-motor system, the operation buttons adopt a feather-touch direct function change mechanism in which the timing of each operation is controlled by an IC logic circuit.
You can switch between modes by simply pressing the button of the mode you want to select with your finger.

Equipped with a digital meter using a fluorescent display tube that can be used as both a VU meter and peak meter by switching the switch.
In addition, AKAI has its own peak hold function that can hold both peak and VU signals.

It is equipped with a 4-position tape selector that can handle high-performance tapes with one touch, recording mute mechanism that can cut CM and narration, timer start mechanism, Dolby NR system with MPX filter, output volume, mono microphone mechanism, etc.

The remote control unit is sold separately and can be operated in the listening position.
