Commentary
This is a bookshelf type speaker system designed by Paul Supran Gar who was the top engineer of Altec.
The Model6 is a mid-range addition to the Model4.
A 25 cm cone type woofer is installed in the low range.
It also has a 13 cm cone mid-range in the mid-range.
A horn type tweeter combining a semiconductor tweeter LZT originally developed by Altec and a Mantare horn is mounted in the high frequency range.
The vibration plate of this tweeter is a semiconductor type, and by combining Altec's original Tangerine phase plug and Mantare horn, flat high-frequency characteristics and uniform directional characteristics are realized.
Automatic power control and overload indicator are used to protect the speakers.
Level control is provided for the middle and high frequencies.
The enclosure uses a bass reflex system.
anechoic dump front baffle is used for the front baffle, and natural wood finish is applied to the other surface.
